Our Smash-it courses are designed for instrumentalists who want to fast-track their way through a Trinity Rock & Pop Grade in a focused, supportive, and energising environment. With small group sizes—usually limited to six students—these week-long intensives offer the perfect blend of expert tuition, structured learning, and hands-on practice.
Usually running during school holidays, each course takes place Monday to Friday, 10am–3pm, giving students the chance to immerse themselves in music without the distraction of school commitments. Students work closely with our experienced tutors to master the essential skills and knowledge required for their chosen grade, with dedicated time for both group learning and one-to-one support.
Students will cover core elements of the Trinity Rock & Pop exam, including:
- Performance pieces – Learn and refine the set songs for your grade
- Technical skills – Develop the specific techniques and exercises required
- Improvisation or playback – Build confidence in creative or responsive playing
- Musicianship questions – Strengthen your understanding of musical concepts relevant to your level
At the end of the course, students take their Trinity Rock & Pop exam on-site at JDT Music Academy, in a familiar and supportive setting. The exam is prearranged and conducted by an official examiner from Trinity College London, helping students feel confident and at ease during their assessment.
